Finalist Miss Teen Canada 2021
Julia M-K
Hello,
Hi there!
My name is Julia and I’m from British Columbia! I just graduated this summer after completing a very strange senior year! Upon graduation I realized it was time for me to make a major choice; moving to Vancouver and pursue a career in acting, or stay in my home town for a few more years to work and eventually complete my Emergency Medical Responder course. After much debating, and careful consideration due to
Covid-19 and the uncertainty of such a big move, I decided to follow my instinct and stay in Penticton a while longer. I love many of the things that I won’t have to say goodbye to now that I’m staying home. For example, throughout high school I developed my love and passion for acting on the stage, specifically musical theater. My high energy personality blended with my passion and dedication to the craft and it payed off! I managed to earn the spot as the leading lady in my senior year at my high school, and participated in several local Productions such as “Newsies” and “The Who’s Tommy”. Musical theater has taught me so much about myself and my values. It taught me dedication and patience to learn all the dances and harmonies; most importantly however, it taught me how it feels to be truly passionate about what you spend your time doing. Unfortunately, due to covid-19 my senior show had to be cancelled only a month before opening night, but I was able to find a lesson in that as well; It reminded me of my love of performance when I realized just how much i missed the long rehearsals to lead up to a show, and it truly proved my dedication to every aspect of
performance.
My passionate personality is definitely what I am proudest of myself for. When I decide I need or want to do something, I will always do everything I can to make it a possibility. Attending Miss Teen Canada this year is a prime example of this! Learning to channel my passion into every aspect of my life that needs improvement has definitely helped shape me into the woman I am today, from developing a passion for weight lifting and
training to improve my physical health, to developing my practices in mental wellness. One day I wish to work with youth struggling with mental illness, specifically eating disorders. I want to help them develop healthy mental and physical habits and learn the signs and flags of developing eating disorders and mental illnesses, giving the youth power to reach for help before they feel they are in too deep. One day I hope to finish my Paramedics course and truly begin my work to help people. I have so much respect for the people in the medical field and the thought of aiding
people that need help has always felt important to me. This is why I focused my platform on mental wellness and healing for those struggling with disordered eating. If one day my work with youth spares even just one young person from riding in the back of my ambulance I know it will be worth it. Everyone deserves to be happy and feel fulfilled in their life, and I believe that giving the next generation the power to reclaim and take their happiness for their own is the greatest gift I can give.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
As Miss Teen Canada, I would use my platform to continue educating youth on the signs of mental illness and eating disorders and how to develop healthy mental and physical habits to aid in their recovery. I would love to visit middle and high school groups and talk to them about my journey with disordered eating and mental illness and how I found my passions in life to help me achieve happiness. For me, that was weight training and acting. I believe every person has a passion that will drive them forward each day, and everyone deserves to find what makes them love their life, despite what
hardships they may face.
I have been told before that I am passionate to the the point of sometimes stubborn! I promise that should you vote for me, I will pour every ounce of my passion into making my dreams for our country and its youth a reality. I wish to help make the youth of tomorrow the happiest, and healthiest generation they can be.
