Finalist Miss Canada 2017
Shanie M
Hello,
My name is Shanie and I am from Mirabel, a city in Quebec. I am passionate about music and sports. I practiced, a few years ago, synchronized swimming at the competitive level for 3 years. This sport instilled in me a great team spirit and a great listening to others. In addition, it is important for me to always stay active so that we can maintain our health and personal well-being while forging new relationships with new people and learning about the different personalities around us.
That’s why I am currently doing a DEC in Social Sciences and my career choice has been focused on education to help elementary-aged students grow up. In my high school education, I spent 5 years in the international program. A program that taught me a lot about the world around us. Through volunteering hours and our various school trips, I have developed a great openness to different cultures and to the different social classes of our community. Beyond that, I am an energetic person, smiling, who has a great positivism in everyday life.
If elected, I would like to improve the social media conflict facing today’s youth. This conflict, which is in full draft but no less worrying, must be shared and questioned. Young girls of our generation are preoccupied with the vision they give of themselves through social networks for the most part and use them to compare themselves to others. I would therefore like to make a difference by denouncing this problem and using my title to help these young girls and boys feel better in their skins.
In addition, I want to make our community aware of emotional abuse, a problem that is often invisible but hurts more than one. The latter has a great impact on many people and this much more than we believe. This conflict is very important to me because I myself have been a victim and I find that it is not sufficiently denounced and I want to make a difference in this direction.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
If elected, I would like to improve the social media conflict facing today’s youth. This conflict, which is in full draft but no less worrying, must be shared and questioned. I would therefore like to make a difference by denouncing this problem and using my title to help these young girls and boys feel better in their skins. This conflict is close to my heart because I myself have been touched by this problem.
