Finalist Miss Canada 2023
Jewel L
Hello,
What you do makes a difference. This is a motto that I live by each day throughout my career as a teacher and through my platform Grateful Givers. I believe that every action we take has an impact. When we choose to show up authentically and with gratitude, that is when we create change in our communities.
This is where Grateful Givers stems from; the idea that authentic service is fueled through gratitude and can create profound change. Through my platform, I have been able to reach over a thousand youths across the country and helped them honour their unique strengths and ability to change the world.
Recently, my platform Grateful Givers has expanded to include the “I am the Difference” Summit and Community Group. Through this, I have the opportunity to work directly with participants and construct their unique initiatives for change. The Miss Canada Organization represents a legacy of empowerment and change.
As an ambassador of the Miss Canada organization, I will continue to empower youth to honour their stories and be changemakers in their communities.
I would like to thank the time to recognize my sponsors as I would not be where I am today without them. A big thank you to MsHoneyCo.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
Being Miss Canada represents empowering women to show up authentically and confidently. If you look at the titleholders over the past ten years, you will see women from all walks of life who inspire others to show up fully as themselves. As Miss Canada, I plan to continue my community group and “Planning your impact” sessions. Through these, I get to work in small group settings to help Canadian women recognize their unique abilities and how they can honour these to create change in their communities.
When I was in high school, I noticed that most students would complain about the mandatory 40 volunteer hours and would call them useless. I also struggled with this because I could not see what the impact of my service was. What helped me recognize the profound impact volunteers have was hearing about the legacy my grandmother had in the community. She was among the founding members of the French Community Centre and helped fundraise to build the French church. This is the impact that I want to have on others as Miss Canada. I strive to empower youth to recognize that change is not just about the hours that you volunteer but about the difference that you make.
