Finalist Miss Canada 2024
Chhavi D
Hello,
I am Chhavi, a passionate filmmaker and actor dedicated to using the power of storytelling to advocate for rights and condemn abuse. My recent project took place in the vibrant city of Kolkata, where, supported by a Canada Council grant, I collaborated with regional organizations to explore the profound issues of child abuse, women trafficking, and abuse in men.
My journey in the world of cinema is not just a creative endeavor but a mission to spark conversations that matter. Armed with a camera and fueled by the desire for change, I’ve conducted extensive research to shed light on the harsh realities that often remain hidden. My dedication to these causes has culminated in the writing of my first feature film, a story interwoven with empathy, resilience, and a strong call for justice.
Rooted in my culture, I carry its essence with me wherever I travel. Each frame I capture and every story I tell is enriched with the depth of my heritage. I believe in the transformative power of film to connect people, challenge stereotypes, and promote understanding across diverse communities.
Beyond the producer’s role, I am an avid traveler and a lover of photography. These pursuits not only expand my perspective but also equip me with a unique lens to view and interpret the world. As an actor, I bring authenticity and dedication to every role, aiming to create characters that resonate with audiences.
Collaboration is central to my creative process. I relish the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who are committed to making a meaningful and impactful contribution. Together, we create narratives that confront societal norms and encourage positive change.
I have produced over 10 short films that have been showcased at some of the most notable film festivals. I am a two-time recipient of the Canada Council grant. My focus is on raising awareness through cinema. I am deeply inspired by Agnes Varda and Satyajit Ray.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
As an immigrant in Canada has been an incredible journey filled with challenges and triumphs. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to call this beautiful country my home, and it’s instilled in me a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility.
My heart is filled with a burning passion for equal opportunity and human rights. If I have the honor of being elected as Miss Canada, I promise to pour every ounce of that passion into advocating for a more inclusive society and equal rights for all.
But my commitment goes beyond just words. It stems from a heartfelt desire to make a difference, starting with our youngest generation. I believe that by nurturing love and acceptance in children, we can plant seeds of compassion that will bloom into a future where everyone is valued and respected.
As Miss Canada, I’ll carry this message of love and equality to every corner of our nation. Together, let’s create a world where every individual feels seen, heard, and cherished.
