Finalist Miss Canada 2025

Nawal K
Hello,
I’m a Kinesiology student from the University of Calgary, a Pakistani-Canadian immigrant, an academic medical researcher and an advocate for women in STEM! My academic and career journey has introduced me to the world of medical research, where I’ve contributed to projects
exploring cardiovascular health and representation in science. These experiences have deepened my commitment to inclusive healthcare and sparked a passion for advocacy for greater visibility and equity for women in the fields of scientific research. I volunteer my time to my community
by constantly volunteering to tutor children, volunteering at local medical clinics and hospitals, volunteering at local pharmacies, volunteering at the public library, volunteering at the food bank, and volunteering at the Calgary Drop-in & Rehab Centre for the homeless. My resilience from being a first-generation woman of colour facing many adversities in my path allowed me to build a strong sense of compassion for fellow marginalized groups in society, inspiring me to make actionable change to help many groups of people. My enthusiasm for life keeps me engaging in activities outside of my comfort zone, such as participating in my first ever pageant this year with this event, in order to facilitate healthy personal growth while learning!
Outside of my career goals, I absolutely love baking and writing poetry. Writing allows me to express my emotions and connect with others on a deeper level, while baking is one of my greatest joys. I regularly organize bake sales to raise money for local charities and amazing causes, combining creativity with compassion to give back to important causes in need. These bake sales also allow me to reconnect with my community by teaching interested volunteers from my community how to bake. I really enjoy being able to bring people together to enjoy the simple joys of seeing cupcakes rise or smelling fresh chocolate chip cookies baking, all while positively benefiting my community! I think of both creativity and science as empowering forms of self-expression that every woman should have accessible to her.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
If elected Miss Canada, I would use this platform to raise awareness about women’s health, support marginalized voices in science and society, and continue organizing community charity project initiatives with the added support! I would also focus on empowering young women to believe in themselves and their potential. Whether through mentorship, tutoring, or everyday encouragement, I want girls to know they can be soft and strong, smart and kind, and that there is space for them to lead in every room they walk into. I believe that the qualities of kindness, curiosity, and confidence can create meaningful change. I see the Miss Canada platform as a powerful opportunity to lead with those values.
