A’Leah Y
Hello,
A’Leah, 17, is a proud Mi’kmaq from Eskasoni First Nation in Nova Scotia. In 2023, she was crowned Queen of the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Summer Games, and in 2022, she was 2nd runner-up in the Wetganinuk Pageant.
Beyond pageantry, A’Leah is a passionate advocate for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). She has spoken at various schools and universities and has participated in numerous awareness events and walks honoring both MMIW and Residential School survivors.
Currently living in Ontario with her aunt, Shelley Young, a Medical student at Queen’s University, A’Leah aspires to follow in similarly impactful footsteps.
Her goal is to become a registered nurse and return to her community to provide support and care.
Despite the challenges she faced growing up, A’Leah serves as a symbol of hope and resilience and is a role model in her community.
Her perseverance and dedication exemplify her commitment to making a positive impact now and in the future.
