Finalist Miss Canada 2019
Bremiella D.
Hello,
Bremiella was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada at age 10, and currently resides in Surrey, BC. As a Filipino-Canadian, she proudly celebrates her culture with organizations such as the Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS) and Circulo Pampagueno Association of BC, where she has been chosen as the muse for both organizations, holding the titles Miss SPIDS and Miss Circulo Pampagueno. She is passionate about helping others through volunteer work, which inspired her to pursue an education in social work.
While earning her Bachelors of Social Work at the University of British Columbia, Bremiella worked with children with special needs and high risk behaviours as a residential child and youth worker. She helped children in care to develop life skills and healthy coping mechanisms and ensured their safety and wellbeing. This extremely challenging work sparked an interest in her to continue to work with individuals with diverse abilities upon graduation.
Last August marked her completion of her bachelor’s degree and she began working as a government social worker for adults with developmental disabilities, FASD and autism. She helps individuals find housing, employment, community inclusion programs and other supports, all the while connecting them to their community.
Moreover, Bremiella is currently the reigning 2018 National Canadian Miss, where she is actively participating in volunteer opportunities in her community, supporting local charities and non-profits such as the BC Children’s Hospital, Surrey Food Bank, MS Society of BC, Help Change My City, and many more.
Recently, she signed up to volunteer at the Fraser Health Crisis Line to respond to calls from individuals in distress, and will begin her training in January. She hopes to hone her counselling skills and pursue a Masters of Social Work with a clinical specialization in the next couple of years, to help those diagnosed with dual disorders.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
What would be my accomplishments as a prize winner –
o be Miss Canada would be an honour that comes with great responsibility. Using the title as a platform to raise my advocacy for individuals with diversabilities, I would initiate a project that raises awareness for the needs of this population, and raise funds for a charity of my choosing. As well, I would pursue volunteer opportunities and support organizations that aim to create inclusive communities and tackle mental health issues. I want to promote a culture of sisterhood by collaborating with other contestants and supporting their advocacies also, and make appearances in the provinces that they live in. Lastly, I would like to represent Canada in an international pageant, and share the world what our country prides itself with the most: diversity.
Why Vote For Me –
Audrey Hepburn once said “The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows.” With perseverance, hard work and true grit, I became a social worker and today I work with some of the most vulnerable people in society. What fuels me is knowing that I am making a difference. Today I dream a new dream. I hope to widen my reach and to become a figure of inspiration for others. I hope that you join me in my dream, and vote for me!
