Finalist Miss Canada 2022
Christie T-E
Hello,
I am the political attaché of a politician at the provincial level, I also work in Law firm specializing in immigration law and I am currently involved in the Montreal-North legal clinic for almost two years and at the same time at the Verdun hospital as a volunteer.
It is crucial to defend the fundamental rights of all people who suffer from police brutality, racism, and racial profiling by the various authorities. For example, immigrants people are more likely to be refused housing, since the vast majority suffer from discrimination, which is contrary to the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. By studying law as a paralegal student in my second year in college, I want to protect visible minorities from abuse, so I plan to apply to Law school after graduating from college to become a lawyer.
Systemic racism still exists today, being an immigrant woman, I want to make a difference.
In my free time, I do volunteer work at the Verdun hospital where I was hospitalized. Since then, I spend most of my time with elderly people at the end of their life or those who suffer from Alzheimer, I listen to them followed by accompaniment outside and one of my favorite activities is to read to them. Elderly people are often unfortunately alone, so during the summer I spend most of my time with them.
The elderly has been forgotten a lot during the pandemic, the least we can do is be by their side as a society.
