Finalist Miss Canada 2024
Creedan Jane G
Hello,
My name is Creedan Jane.
The first two years of my life I spent on Sunchild First Nation before I was apprehended and put into foster care.
I went through five foster homes before the age of 9 where I endured physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
Both of my biological parents died when I was young. I am now pursuing a degree in Psychology at the University of Calgary.
I feel as though I have a responsibility to protect the little boys and girls in care in the way nobody was there to protect me.
The pipeline from Foster Care to prison or from Foster Care to missing or murdered is evidence that the effects of Residential Schooling continue to devastate Indigenous lives today.
More than half of the children in Foster Care today are Indigenous.
Every Child deserves a parent, not every parent deserves a Child.
