Finalist Miss Canada 2022
Jewel L
Hello,
Nothing says confidence like a red lipstick. My Memère wore red lipstick every single day. It was her way of standing out and feeling good in her own skin even though she had battles to fight.
In 2008, I lost my Memère to cancer, but I will never forget her legacy. For years, I was afraid of speaking out. I never felt like my story was worth being told. Being a child of divorce made me extremely quiet and school bullies made me insecure. After a while I realized I needed to get out some red lipstick and face my own battle! I was able to join my first pageant at 17 years old and was able to get involved in my community, sharing my experience with insecurity, and helping other women have the confidence that Red Lipstick provides! I now use this motto in my everyday life, studies, and community initiatives.
Through my experiences, I was able to found Grateful Givers. Teaching Canadian Youth how to have the confidence to create a meaningful sense of community through, authenticity, personal development, community service and gratitude. Most recently, I have been able to share these principles through the ‘I am the Difference’ Summit; a day focused on self-reflection, motivational speaking, and creating plans to impact their communities positively. I was proud to welcome over 50 participants in the first annual event.
Pageants have always provided me with the platform to use my voice and my experiences
to connect with others around me. As an ambassador of the Miss Canada Organization, I
would like to continue teaching Canadian youth how to make meaningful connections
through valuable opportunities and rising above insecurities- Helping them be as bold as red lipstick!
A big thank you to my sponsors Country Gardens RV Park, Grandview Massage Therapy, and MsHoneyCo.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
If I were honoured with the title of Miss Canada, I would continue to grow Grateful Givers, specifically with the ‘I am the Difference’ campaign. I would travel across the country to host one day youth groups as well as present virtual seminars to highlight how Canadian Youth can make an impact in their communities. I would also work towards create a scholarship for youth community leaders to allow the opportunities to pursue higher education.
I strive every day to teach Canadian Youth how to create meaningful connections through community service while giving back with gratitude and authenticity. In 2021, I was able to host the first ‘I am the Difference’ summit, which welcomed over 50 participants from across the country. I was able to connect with students and community leaders from across the country to help them recognize the profound impact they can have in their regions while creating a sense of community. As Miss Canada, I would continue to build the ‘I am the Difference’ campaign by travelling and hosting various seminars and youth groups nationwide to help teach these values.
