Finalist Miss Canada 2017
Karine B
Hello,
I am a young woman from Neguac, New Brunswick, a small and very quiet village. I am part of a family of three, including a younger brother and older sister. Indeed, being part of a family with many children has given me a sense of responsibility and a desire to help others.
Under this pretext, I became a nurse. Following my university studies, a passion has developed to help people with mental illness. In June 2017, I was touched by depression and anxiety. My life was jostled and that is how new ambitions were formed.
I will be a model and a voice that will support the differences and stigma of mental illness. In addition to my professional achievements, during my university years, I participated in several modeling competitions. My passion for arts and culture has grown at this time.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
If I am elected, I would like to bring to people as much education as possible related to mental health. More and more people are affected by mental illness and the subject is still taboo. According to the latest research from Statistics Canada in 2009, there were 3,890 suicides in Canada, a rate of 11.5 per 100,000 population. My goal would be to help reduce the percentage of suicide. So to speak, help people to express themselves without fear of the stigmas of the general population.
I am convinced that Miss Canada should be a strong and independent woman. She should be a role model for the people around her. I am determined to use this title to be a voice for those in need. Basically, as this quote puts it, “As you get older, you will discover that you have two hands, one to help yourself and the other to help others.” (Audrey Hepburn)
