Hello,
My name is Mariama, I am 20 years old, and I was born and raised in Montreal. Growing up as a young Black woman, I faced the challenge of finding confidence in spaces where I didn’t always feel represented. Over time, I’ve learned to embrace my identity with pride, turning my journey into one of self-acceptance and empowerment.
I am currently a biochemistry student at Concordia University, driven by my fascination with the molecular processes that shape our world. Beyond academics, I run a home bakery business where I combine creativity with precision to craft treats that bring joy to my community. Both in the lab and in the kitchen, I explore the power of innovation, perseverance, and connection.
I am passionate about youth empowerment and mentorship, particularly for young women, and I believe in the importance of helping youth realize their full potential. Whether through education, career guidance, or simply offering support, I want to be part of creating opportunities for young people to thrive. I aim to inspire them to embrace their uniqueness, pursue their dreams with confidence, and know that they have the strength to succeed.
