Finalist Miss Canada 2019
Marie-Helene M.
Hello,
My name is Marie-Hélène and I am from Leech, New Brunswick. I have a social work bachelor degree and I am currently studying part time for my master also in social work. I work as a clinical coordinator for the mental health department of the child and youth teams. The mental health is very important to me and my work gives me the opportunity to act as a spokesperson for these children who are all too often forgotten. Despite all its complexity and challenges, my job gives me the motivation to continue to work on improving the mental health services offered in schools.
I attach great importance to body acceptance and self-esteem. I raise awareness among the people I meet in my daily life that the basis of good psychological health starts with the value we give ourselves. Another cause that is dear to my heart is the Alzheimer Society, I am involved as a volunteer in a support group for relatives of people with Alzheimer. Having accompanied my grandfather in this illness, I remember that it was very heartbreaking to understand that he would never be himself again and accept this new reality. I want to offer my time to help those in the same situation.
My goal in life is to have an even bigger and more positive impact on the people I meet in my everyday life. What I conclude from all that I have lived so far is that, even if we do not achieve the desired results at the desired time, we must never give up, because with the will and the effort, our dreams can come true. The importance is in perseverance and always believing in you, since the best person we can be is ourselves.
