Finalist Miss Teen Canada 2017
Naomi M
Hello,
My name is Naomi. I am currently seventeen years old and live in beautiful British Columbia. Not only am I thankful and honoured to represent British Columbia but I am beyond excited to meet empowering and beautiful girls to share our ambitions and create new experiences for one another.
After living abroad and coming back to Canada, I had few hardships in my teenage life. I felt like a stranger. I lacked the confidence, had low self-esteem, and insecurities as being the only Korean student and having no friends. The kids looked differently and even dressed differently. This even led me to create insecurities with my body image that I compared to other teenagers. However, I eventually overcame my obstacles by growing physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through this, I want to share my experiences with the many other teens that might have life’s obstacles like myself.
My background is diverse, which gives me a unique perspective that allows me to be a whole-hearted individual. Through many obstacles and hardships I faced, I have learned to embrace myself by gaining confidence and loving all of who I was including my imperfections. Through this, it led me to get involved with my community in which I have found my passion for caring others by volunteering and serving my community.
I count myself different than other pageant entrants because my purpose is not to show that my outer appearances are more beautiful than other girls but my purpose is to promote a strong and positive attitude and messages to young girls with their self-confidence and re-define the definition of beauty.
“Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face. It’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly a beautiful soul”. This taught me that beauty is not just about your ethnicity, body type, fashion or even looks. Beauty is having a confidence in yourself and accepting yourself as who you are.

If you’d Elected: what you would realize
Why vote for me!
If I am elected as Miss Teen Canada, I want to continue giving back to my community by reaching out to more non-profit organizations. Moreover, I want to reach out to other young girls and boys to spread awareness about real-world issues such as self esteem, bullying, and even mental health. I want to open new perspectives about these issues, by empowering them to be leaders in their communities. Overall, I want to continue to be a person who strives to promote positivity.
