Finalist Miss Canada 2019

Hello,

My name is Vanessa Joy, I am 23 years old and I am from Greenfield Park, Quebec.  I am of Ukrainian and German descent; I have one younger sister and one beloved fur-baby of a dog Dakota.  I have been an entrepreneur since the age of 15, and I have a great love for children, philanthropy, chocolate, luxury footwear and anti-bullying campaigns.

I graduated from both Vanier College and College LaSalle with degrees in Social Science and Marketing.  In 2016 alongside by business partners, we founded Angela Mitchell – an Italian-made designer footwear brand for men and women.  We have since been featured in Vogue, GQ and Harper’s Bazaar, for instance.

Despite my busy schedule, I remain determined to combine my love for the people of Montreal and the environment.  For the past two years, I have coordinated charitable efforts to distribute recycled Winter coats and accessories to our city’s homeless community. The “Spread Warmth” initiative’s goal is to connect with those needing love the most.

I am a strong children and women’s activist, and hold the Pastoralist Child’s Foundation near to my heart.  At the center of my every charitable effort is the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), where we in contrast promote education in an attempt to abolish child-marriage.

To keep myself grounded, I enjoy reading suspenseful novels and eating chocolate-fruit fondue.
