Hello,
Greetings! I am delighted to introduce myself — I am Vishnu Hasini Pokala (pronounced Vish-noo Haa-si-ni Po-ka-la). Try it a couple of times; it’ll be worth remembering.
I’m a 17-year-old Indian Canadian from a traditional South Indian family. I moved to Canada when I was eight years old, and with each passing year, I seem to fall more in love with this country and its virtues. My admiration for Canada is a major reason I am drawn to this pageant.
Dance has been a significant part of my life since the age of six. I’ve trained in three dance forms: Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Bharatanatyam. While each style has its charm, Bharatanatyam has been the most transformative, teaching me discipline, confidence sharpening my personality. Over the years, I began training young dancers, guiding them to perform confidently on various stages. Watching them grow as artists and individuals has been incredibly rewarding, and has become one of my favorite ways to spend time.
One of my most memorable experiences with public speaking was presenting my research on Implicit Bias in Healthcare — a topic I feel deeply passionate about. Sharing how unconscious biases influence patient care and contribute to health disparities was both challenging and fascinating. The research process itself was eye-opening itself but what made the research worthy was conveying findings to an audience.
I’m truly passionate about raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research—it’s a cause that means a lot to me. My journey in pageantry started about a year ago, and since then, I’ve had the honor of earning the titles Miss Teen South Asia World 2024 and Miss Teen Canada United World 2024. Serving as a representative has taught me a lot but especially the value of outreach, education and advocacy.
This is just a glimpse of the person behind the name, and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me next. I’m eager to strengthen the bond with this company, forming a memorable experience and hopefully, bring you all along for the adventure!
