Finalist Miss Canada 2020

Hello,

Willma Gendb, was born on January 1^st 1996, in Khartoum Sudan, and later settled in Windsor Ontario. Willma, is a South Sudanese model, actress, and an advocate who strives to break barriers with a positive outlook in life. Her determination, companion, and sense of humour enables her to be a great role model for young people. As a role model, she hopes to empower young people to develop the skills, and abilities to motivate oneself to seek righteousness for the good of all people. She believes getting involved and creating awareness can help you learn leadership skills, understanding & respecting diversity, developing confidence and life skills that can help you in the future.

Willma’s family has always supported her unconditionally which has provided her with a solid foundation. Willma attended George Brown College and focused her studies on Business Administration and Human Resources. At a young age she developed a passion for sports, and part from her athletic ability, Willma uses her creative mind towards fashion, art and hospitality, attempting to use these skills wherever she can. She hopes to open schools for men and women who want to enhance their skills and knowledge and one day open their own business.

Moreover, Willma’s greatest passion is humanitarianism work. Captivated by the components of pageants, Her entry in the Miss Universe Canada Western Ontario preliminary pageant  led her to compete at the national level. With an active hand in the in the pageant industry, modelling and her platform on social media, she says this experience is an excellent opportunity for young ladies to build on their social skills, with many opportunities for public speaking and career development and it has given her a platform to bring attention to real issues such as mental illnesses, poverty, animals rights, homelessness, healthcare and affordable quality education. Willma, who advocates for this cause, created #whatsupwilliow in which she works to educate individuals and to encourage them to share their personal stories and to keep the conversation going.This victory inspired her more and now she is determined to join the movement to be provided a second opportunity with the incredible opportunity to represent Canada again.

As a former Miss Universe Canada finalists, I have had the opportunity to raise awareness, give back to my community, volunteer for charities, host and speak at conferences. This experience has provided me with many opportunities for public speaking and career development and a voice for those suffering in silence. Particularly for this cause I have created a  #whatsupwilliow , in which I work to educate individuals and to encourage them to share their personal stories and to keep the conversation going.

I want to be you’re Miss Canada 2020, because it will help me bring attention to real issues like mental illnesses, poverty, animals rights, homelessness, healthcare, affordable education and gender equality. I will use my platform to empower and encourage others by sharing my struggles and experiences, and exemplify self-love, confidence and acceptance.

Becoming Miss Canada 2020 will pave the way for inspiring young women and men who want to take on leadership roles in their community by bringing attention and find solutions to issues that need to be resolved through positive & quality education and with the community support. My biggest accomplishment will be promoting positive messages shown to change attitudes towards violence and making a positive impact in the world
