Hello,
My name is Yona, and I am participating in Miss Teen Canada because I want to share my values and inspire others to believe in themselves. I am a vibrant, joyful person with a kind-hearted and compassionate for others. Through this competition, I hope to show that true beauty lies in authenticity and the courage to be oneself.
Miss Teen Canada represents much more than a title for me; it is an opportunity to convey an important message. In a world where appearance and social expectations often dictate our worth, I want to remind everyone that we are so much more than our image or status.
For a long time, I searched for my place, caught between two cultures: that of Canada, where I grew up, and my country of origin. However, I have come to see this diversity as a strength and take pride in who I am. Today, I want to encourage everyone to value their identity with pride, no matter their journey.
My goal is to increase my support for those around me. In high school, I participated in a project where we repaired clothes and various items to create a thrift store for students in our community, with proceeds donated to a local youth shelter. Additionally, during floods in my city, I assisted disaster victims in clearing out their homes. I also volunteered at the CAN GATO, an intercommunity soccer competition in the Gatineau-Ottawa area that unites the community and young people. Beyond my community involvement, I believe in the importance of physical activity for teenage girls’ well-being. Through the “Fillactive” program, which encourages young girls to stay active throughout their lives, I had the honor of running a marathon.
Today, as a student in architectural technology, I dream of contributing to the construction of more sustainable and affordable housing. I want to prove to myself that, no matter the field, I can succeed and make a positive impact on my environment.
